All the believers were together and had everything in common. –  Acts 2:44

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  -   James 1:27

With these verses in mind, we push for all the unmet needs at Crossroads to be met by people at Crossroads.

The goal is that the information collected from this form will be compiled once a week, and will be available at the back of our weekend services. (It’s also available here as a .pdf)

Calling All Burly Men (and women)

Grand Rapids has a significant population that lives homeless outdoors during the winter. One of the areas that they stay is called a “camp”. This homeless camp uses a significant amount of firewood during the winter. We want to help supply them with firewood this winter.

This Saturday, September 18, we are meeting at Pastor Greg’s house to cut and haul firewood from his woods. Meet at 8:30am with your chainsaw, gas, and/or gas mix for doughnuts, coffee, and cuttin’. We will then haul some already cured wood to some people who could really use it this winter. Can’t you already smell the two-stroke exhaust?

If you have any questions, or if you need directions, e-mail gdempster@crossroads-bible.org or help@realtimecrossrads.org

Work day this Saturday.

Meet at Walker Charter Academy at 8:00 Saturday morning.  We will have a doughnut tailgate party for 10 or 15 minutes, then divide up into crews and split up.

If you can’t show up until a little later in the day, call 616.805.9497 for directions on where to go.

Even if it’s rainy outside, we’ll have stuff to do inside. Sweet!!! See ya Saturday!!!

Realtime Crossroads will be having a workday on Saturday, August 14 from 8:00am to 4:00pm.   We will be working on two homes. One is the home of an elderly couple where the husband has MS. He has trouble getting around his house, and there are many small jobs that need to be done. The other home is that of a single mom working hard to get by. There are several projects that she doesn’t have the ability to do.

The work on both homes will entail basic repair and yard work. We will also need people to help feed the workers.

What a great opportunity to take care of each other!

E-mail help@realtimecrossroads.org if you are interested.

We need your skate pads and helmets!

WE NEED YOUR OLD SKATE PADS AND HELMETS - Max Garter is collecting skate pads and helmets for the kids at Wedgwood Christian Services. There will be a collection box at the Connection Centers for the next couple of weeks. Bring any used gear that you are not using! Thanks for your help!

15 Passenger Van Needed

Sportspower is a faith-based nonprofit organization run by Jeremiah and Veronica Hamlet. Its purpose is to use sports as a tool to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and help them mature in their faith through discipleship.

Sportspower runs afterschool programs, runs summer basketball camps, and hosts workshops and events among many other things.

Due to its urban focus, Sportspower has a need to do a lot in town transport of people. Because of this, they desperately need a 15 passenger van. This van would directly influence the number of people that can attend their various programs, and therefore influence Grand Rapids for Christ.

If you know of a good deal on a new or used as passenger van, or if you wish to donate to this cause, please call 616-805-9497 or e-mail

Comments Added

Realtime connecting through Facebook seems like a big hit. One of the reasons why is the ease with which you can add comments. But many of you have mentioned that you don’t have Facebook and don’t want to have to get it. So… pow…  we added comments to the website. The only thing we ask is that you have a valid e-mail account so you can’t say all sorts of bad things about us in anonymity. Not that there’s anything bad to say!  :)

Jobs

One of the most common requests for Realtime is to help find a job. The economy in Michigan stinks right now and jobs are hard to come by.

We don’t have the resources to find jobs, but what we CAN do is give you a venue to post your contact information and/or a link to your online resume. Then we can encourage potential employers to look through these postings. It might be a longshot, but it’s the best we can do!

So… use the comment box to post information about yourself.
